Wow…couldn’t Chouji or Ino throw a shuriken or a knife while Shikamaru had them in his shadow possession? Caring so much about their fancy jutsu they didn’t even think of throwing some shit at them.

      But shikamaru defeated Kin during the chunin preliminaries by slamming her opponent into the wall but not hitting himself. She broke her skull and nothing happened to shiku. Shadow possesion is more like a puppet possesion because he does not make any connection except for movement.

      guys, it’s an inconsistency in the show. masashi messed up. cuz when shikamaru was fighting the bell sound ninja in the chunin exams, he had her in the shadow possession jutsu and leaned backwards and the sound ninja hit the wall but shikamaru didnt. he didnt get hurt but the sound ninja did.
      also, when shikamaru had gaara in the shadow possession jutsu and naruto proceeded to hit gaara in the face, shikamaru got hurt.
      shikamaru actually said himself that if you hurt the other oponent while he’s in SPJ, he gets hurt too, right? so im pretty sure when shikamaru defeated the sound ninja in the chunin exams, he didnt get hurt because the show was inconsistent. masashi kishimoto probably thought of the idea of shikamaru getting hurt after he made that episode with gaara in the hospital. maybe he thought no one would notice. it’s a question only masashi could answer.
