You know the whole alliance between kabuto and tobi has a huge gap if you think it carefully. When kabuto gave his help with reanimated ninjas, did he know the exact plan of Tobi? If he knew then he would also have to asume that tobi would never keep his promise to give him sasuke.

POSSIBLE SPOILER: Lets put the pieces together. – I posted this further down the comments but wanted to add some more things.

It’s a valid theory, especially since Tobi revealed that Fugaku had planned and masterminded the coup de tat himself (naruto manga chapter 400 “in the pits of hell” page 3). In all honesty, why did Tobi save Sasuke and utilize him so much? It’s because it could be his son.. Tobi was weary of Madara’s power, as well as Itachi’s and Shisui’s, because they were incredibly skilled ninja. Tobi also mentioned the “eye for an eye” situation: whereas an Uchiha is the best ninja to take on another Uchiha… so why wouldn’t he kill someone as skilled as Sasuke, knowing that he possessed the Genius to be the best of them all. This is where that theme of “he killed his entire clan..his girlfriend, mom, dad, but he could not kill you” comes into play. Fugaku was not killed, it was an illusion, zetsu clone, or genjutsu that could have deceived Itachi.

On top of this, I’d like to mention the theme of relationships in the series. Madara and Hashi, Itachi and Nagato, Naruto and Sasuke… whats missing? Naruto’s father and Sasuke’s father…but OH WAIT! they fought, at Naruto’s birth. Fugaku would have the motivation because he hated the Leaf for how they “controlled” the Uchiha..by making them a police force and keep tabs on them.. and also for using his own son, Itachi, against them. He is the only Uchiha who could have known what his son is up to and therefore coordinate around that. He was alive to cooperate with Madara. Tobi took off his mask for like a split second..so I doubt sasuke would know what he looked like, even if it was his dad after so many years. How did he stop the black flames I wonder – I suppose it holds some ground…

“A Shell of his former self” – could refer to his sons death and his clan..but also as his power was split or weakened because of the combined Uchiha and Senju experimentation. This lends credit to why Danzo was so bandaged up and weak all the time.

Itachi has lines under his eyes – Tobi has two.

Fugaku was the leader of the Uchiha clan.. the only one who could directly influence him would be Madara. Fugaku would use his alias because Madara himself was a rogue Uchiha who had left the village. Fugaku’s whereabouts during the attack 16 years ago in the series are unknown, but his wife was there with child, Sasuke.

The biggest “HOLY SHIT” reveal would be Sasuke’s father..similar to star wars… which I might add, Darth Vader wore a mask, but we knew him to be a human cyborg (two different things combined into one and was all powerful)

The 4th hokage was the savior of the shinobi world, or thought to be, so would he not find a “yang” to that equation? Perhaps a villain equally as crafty and of the age in that generation.

Some would say “but why wouldn’t Tobi, if he was Fugaku, know how to battle the 4th hokage if he was so famous”..that answer is simple. Not every ninja reveals the cards he has, which is evident in all accounts and battles in the story.

Let me know your thoughts and as always: this is merely speculation and theory based upon observations of the series. I am interested in hearing arguments against this theory because I am sure I missed some things. Hope this edited post was entertaining also..you never know until it is revealed.

    Good point – “how could he be a father to sasuke/itachi while at the same time do so many things elsewhere?”. My answer would be his cooperation with Madara. Madara went rogue as I said and was the one who controlled Yagura, not Fugaku.. hence the long hair revealed back then – and also Madara was quite adept at controlling tailed beasts, it would only be logical for Madara to have controlled Yagura.

      Well according to the appropriate timeline.. Madara would have been pulling the strings this entire time. Fugaku, aka Tobi, did not come into the picture until the night Minato fought him. This is evident because Itachi met the real Madara (long hair), Kisame as well (long hair) while Fugaku was still in the village. We know Madara dies, he is revived with long hair. Fugaku replaces Madara after the uchiha clan massacre (the switch to short hair in the manga) and continues Madara’s legacy knowing that he is “no one” anymore, since he is thought to be dead.

      Think about it this way. When Tobi says “I’m taking back what was once mine”…and “I gave Nagato the rinnegan”…he doesn’t mean the eyes are actually his personally. The belief is that the Rinnegan is the rightful heir to the Uchiha clan..it should of been theirs to begin with! And Fugaku, as clan leader is taking back it back for their clan.

  I think this is by far the most creative theory of Tobi I have heard yet! Plus it does make sense because in the blood prison movie the theme was a father pushing his son for the good of their village and maybe this theme is recurring without all of us realizing it. Fantastic theory I give 10 out 10 stars.
