He didn’t technically kick ass. Orochimaru was weakened. He had the exceptionally good luck of his Lighting Element being paired against Deidara’s Earth Element. And Itachi let Sasuke beat him. Like Madara told Sasuke, “if he (Itachi) wanted to kill you he’d have done it.” So Sasuke still sucks cock.
