      Yes their like the secret service of the leaf village so they’re all good. But that’s all they are is good they aren’t super ninja’s like naruto, kakashi, or shikamaru. You only see them fight against the average people that they can actually defeat because that would be pointless in the show. They’re only shown fighting against monsters like the akatski or Orochimaru which they will obviously get dominated by.

        i think the ANBU are more like spies..they great at staying hidden and spying but way i see it if u wana protect your village it makes sense that your strongest warriors would be the ninja that live and stay in the village

      The ANBU have to conceal their identities. One major disadvantage to this is that they’re unnamed characters and unnamed characters are always utterly and humiliatingly incompetent in comparison to named characters. The only times we see any ANBU with any kind of skill are ex-ANBU like Kakashi or those who have an alias like Yamato.

        Yamato’s real name as far as i know is TENZo Not sure if its spelled like that but that is what kakashi called him on one of the episodes
