      They explain why he didnt get a clone.  The others were trapped so that they couldnt go help the person/s who was entering the base.  This was it would be 1 person/team instead of more.

      actually if you listned to the details the trap was designed to keep its victim pinned down at that pistion and the main way to get out of it was if reinforcements had come even if they tried to get to the others they would only be leaving the self vaulnerable to a counter attack from the enemy if u saw the fight they could barley catch a breath because the copy clones would not stop attacking
